According to APK-Inform preliminary data, in April of this year the exports of sunflower meal from Ukraine increased significantly after the decline in March, totaling about 560 thsd tonnes. This was up 41% compared to the previous month, and became one of the highest volumes of the meal shipment since February 2022.
In April, China became the main buyer of the Ukrainian product, exporting the highest monthly volume in more than a year (since January 2023) – 205 thsd tonnes. The increase compared to the previous month was more than 5 times.
In the reporting month, exports of Ukrainian meal to the EU decreased to 193 thsd tonnes (-18%), which nevertheless remains a fairly high volume for this destination.
In total, in September-April of 2023/24 MY Ukraine shipped 3.36 mln tonnes of meal to the foreign markets, which was the second largest volume for the same period in the history after the figures of 2019/20 MY (3.61 mln tonnes).
