Trade sees urad imports from Brazil rising to 50,000 tonnes this year

Urad imports rebound in 2023-24 to rise 19 per cent at 6.23 lakh tonnes on reduced domestic supplies

Urad imports registered an increase of around 19% during 2023-24 to around 6.23 lt over the previous year’s 5.24 lt.

As countries such as Brazil and Argentina start expanding acreages under black matpe or urad, India the largest consumer of pulses, expects increase in imports from those nations. Presently, Myanmar has been the main supplier of urad to India.
