Russian shelling delays maritime exports from Ukraine

Active shelling of Ukraine by the Russian Federation last week led to delays in export shipments and a slowdown in waterborne exports, experts at Spike Brokers said.

“Sea freight rates remained stable compared to last week. There is a decrease in cargo volumes in April and May, which may affect the adjustment of rates. At the same time, freight rates from the Danube river ports to Constanta increased to the level of 20-25 euros per ton,” the report said.

It is also specified that the market rates for sea transportation from the port of Chornomorsk are currently as follows:

Italy (east coast) – $31-32 (30-35 thsd tonnes);

Spain (Mediterranean) – $33-35 (30-35 thsd tonnes);

Portugal – $34-37 (30-35 thsd tonnes);

China – $65-67 (60-65 thsd tonnes).
